Japanese monk apologized for offences

www.chinanews.cn 2006-05-04 12:34:40

Japanese monk Iwata Ryuzo worshiped on bended knees at the
10,000-person pit site in Henan's Luoyang City on May 2, chanting sutra,
praying and making confessions. The Japanese troop buried numerous
Chinese laborers and anti-Japanese patriots here when it invaded occupied
Luoyang.

In 2005, the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese
War, 70-year-old Iwata Ryuzo came to China at his own expenses, praying
and offering an apology in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing and other
cities. His second "apologizing for offences" journey will last about two
months and cover cities including Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xi'an,
Luoyang, Beijing, Harbin and Dalian, which cross more than half of the
Chinese territory.
