As far as I've understood, this is just a matter of taste (similar to 惟一、唯一): it's
usually 好像 in textbooks, but I saw 好象 in a novel by 老舍.

A google search yields about 58 million hits for 好像 and 4...

Skylee, indeed they do sometimes call Chinese 汉语 in the mainland。The first time I heard it,
I was confused, but it's just another way to say 普通话 or 国语。

He sounds a bit off, I don't know what it is, he overemphasizes the h in his "shi" 是, that's the
one thing that's a bit obvious, but he pumps out the words like a native speaker.

i like schichuanese. it's understandable if you...

i like schichuanese. it's understandable if you know mandarin and is more an accent than a totally
new dialect. a lot of comic evil characters in film/tv uses this dialect.
